   Wheat...West coast cash wheat markets drifted lower this week, with
hard red winter and dark northern spring bids taking the bigger hit on
losses of about 30 cents. White wheat bids fared relatively well as spot
basis to Chicago strengthened 15 cents from a week ago.
   Weekly Sales...USDA reported wheat sales of 9.8 million bushels over
the past week, which was 13% below the prior four-week average. Overall
export commitments of 344 million bushels sets 31% below a year ago and
14% below the five-year average pace. Hard red winter reported the best
sales level since early June with 4.1 million bushels, putting sales at
77 million, which is 61% below a year ago and 37% below average. White
wheat booked 2.7 million bushels and with 106 million in commitments, 
sets 9% above a year ago and 25% above average. Hard red spring booked
less than a million bushels and soft red winter reported 2.1 million in
new sales for the week.
   Top Wheat Buyers...Mexico was the leading U.S. wheat buyer last week
with 4.2 million bushels, followed by Japan at 3.2 million and Vietnam
buying 2.2 million bushels.
