DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP:  The bulk of last week's business took 
place on Wednesday and Thursday. Southern live trade ranged 
from $108 to $111, mostly $110, steady/weak with the prior 
week's weighted averages. Northern dressed deals ranged from 
$166 to $176, mostly $172 to $173, generally steady to $1 
lower than the previous weeks weighted average basis 
Nebraska.  According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter 
Cattle Summary reports the accumulated weekly average price 
totals are as follows (the prior week's weighted averages are 
listed in parentheses): KS $110.01($110.15); NE 
$172.83(173.09); TX $110.28($110.55); IA $172.06($173.06); CO 

According to the Friday Afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter 
Cattle reports weekly trade volume totals are were: KS 
20,591; NE 29,738; TX 4,988; IA 18,598, CO 2,419. Friday's 
slaughter totaled 119,000 head, 4,000 head more than the 
prior week, but 2,000 less than the previous year. Saturday's 
slaughter was estimated at 69,000 head, bringing the weekly 
total to 657,000 head, 6,000 above the week before, and 
13,000 greater than 2020.

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: The country is typically quiet for a 
Monday morning with bids and asking prices not established as 
of yet. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until 
the second half of the week. Beef cutouts are expected to be 
higher with light to moderate box movement.

For the week ending January 16, 2021, Imported Beef Passed for 
Entry in the U.S. totaled 37,856, 110.43% of the previous week 
and 124.93% of the 4-week average.
