About the Buckingham Cooperative

Buckingham Cooperative Company was organized in 1966 as a cooperative. Orville Beenken was named the General Manager and served in that capacity until 1996 when he retired with 50 years of service to the company. Robert (Bob) Reynolds is the current Manager and has served in that capacity since January 1, 2005. The first Board of Directors were Robert Beenken, John McKenna, Robert Schrier, Harold Jurgens, Marcel Neckanicky, Ervin Tomlinson, Donald Beenken, President, Wilson Dinsdale, Vice President and Kenneth Wendt, Secretary.

Prior to the formation of Buckingham Cooperative Company, producers in the area were served by the Buckingham Grain Company which was organized in May of 1919 as a stock Company. The elevator was purchased from the Independent Grain and Lumber Company of Mason City, Iowa.

Services provided include grain storage, marketing and merchandising, seed cleaning and sales, Land O Lakes Feed and ingredients and agronomy services in partnership with East Central Iowa Cooperative with main offices at Hudson, Iowa.

Buckingham Cooperative has 2.8 million bushels of storage capacity.


Location: 1/4 mile east of the Intersection of US 63 and Tama County D65

Plant Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. During harvest and other peak periods, operating hours will be posted.
